Suraiya Faroqhi teaches at the Department of History at İstanbul Bilgi University. From 1988 to 2007, she has served as a professor of Ottoman Studies at the Ludwig Maximilians Universität in Munich. In addition, she has held visiting appointments at Moscow State University, Al al-Bayt University in Jordan, the University of Minnesota, Boğaziçi University, and most recently the American University in Cairo. Some of her publications include "Approaching Ottoman History: an Introduction to the Sources" (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1999) and "The Ottoman Empire and the World Around it, 1540s to 1774" (London: I. B. Tauris, 2004)
